Annapurna has announced the Stray film, we will enjoy a new adventure with our beloved cat in the cyberpunk world at the cinema!
Straythe famous video game developed by Blue Twelve Studios starring the famous red cat, will have a film adaptation. The video game arrived on the market in summer 2022 and had a dramatic success, distinguishing itself from many other titles for its innovative art style and gameplay. The game is not only famous for the cat, but also for having afascinating cyberpunk settingwhere humans no longer exist and the world is inhabited exclusively by robot.
Annapurna confirms: she will take care of the Stray film
The story features a cat trying to survive in a dystopian world where humans have become extinct and there are cute robots replacing them. We won’t tell you anything else about the plot so as not to ruin the surprise in case you haven’t played it yet (do it as soon as possible, is available on PlayStation Plus Extra). On the game’s website, you can find the official plot which mentions:
In this title, the sweet stray cat will have to enter a city inhabited by cybernetic creatures and will have to discover the mysteries that lie behind the disappearance of the human race and the decline of the world, surviving clashes with dangerous creatures and sneaking into unknown places.
Annapurna has announced that the Stray film will be a animation film and dealing with the project we find the Annapurna Animation division, which deals with animated adaptations. The film will be directed by Nick Brunodirector of Nimona, which arrived on Netflix earlier this year. The producer of Nimona, Julie Zackary of Blue Sky Animation Studios, will be a head of production of the film at Annapurna Animation. At the moment we don’t know if the animated film will follow the same plot as the video game or if it will take narrative deviations to tell something new. No release date has been released, but it looks like Stray won’t be the only one to get a film adaptation of Annapurna. We are absolutely thrilled with the announcement and can’t wait to go see it!
