Digitized, connected, electrified: the world of mobility is changing and that of two wheels is no exception. After making riding safer for motorcyclists with the Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC), Bosch has a whole series of further technological innovations to put into play. With innovative driver assistance systems and new electrification and smart connectivity solutions, Bosch is moving forward at great speed in the two-wheel segment.
Bosch solutions for motorcycles and powersport vehicles
The demand for Bosch solutions for motorcycles and powersport vehicles is increasing, as are the business numbers. From 2019 to 2023, sales of Bosch’s Two-Wheeler & Powersports division grew by an average of 8 percent, despite the unfavorable economic situation. In the same period, average growth in the global motorcycle market stopped at 1-2%.
Bosch presents new electric solutions with 6 kW of power
Software isn’t the only area where Bosch is making progress. At the hardware level, the company is working on new developments for efficient engine management for internal combustion systems, as well as solutions for electric propulsion. By 2026, Bosch aims to generate a turnover of 6 billion euros from the group’s electromobility sector also thanks to the contribution in the Two-Wheeler & Powersports business unit.
The 2 in 1 solution from Bosch
The 2-in-1 solution from Bosch offers an integrated engine management concept with vehicle control and an inverter. The so-called one-box solution, with its compact design, makes room for the battery in the vehicle, similar to the Bosch e-axle for passenger cars.
The engine has a passive cooling concept: the propulsion is cooled by an air flow instead of a complex water cooling system. These features allow manufacturers who choose the new Bosch electric motor to save on system costs.
