Loki 3: the Marvel producer expresses his opinion on the possibility of making a third season of the series with Tom Hiddleston
As you know, Loki is the only Marvel series to have been greenlit for a second season, which ended just yesterday with a sixth and final episode on Disney+. The question that arises spontaneously today is therefore whether the series with Tom Hiddleston will receive a further renewal for a possible third season. The Marvel producer spoke about it, interviewed by Deadline on the point.
Loki 3: the possible scenarios of a third season
Speaking about Loki’s future beyond season two, series producer Kevin Wright provided a update on the possibilities of the third season of the show, noting that there are many more stories to tell featuring Loki and set in Loki’s world. When asked by Deadline if Marvel has a multi-season plan for Loki or if renewing the show is something that’s dealt with on a season-by-season basis, Wright laconically admitted that the latter option is the norm, but he also acknowledged the existence of conversations with the cast on what direction to take. Recently, we learned that Marvel prevented the use of some characters in Loki 2.
We have this discussion season by season, and there are certainly things that Tom and I and the other cast members have talked about, especially about what direction to take, and I know there’s some excitement about that internally. However, from a storytelling perspective, I think we always conceived of Seasons 1 and 2 as one.
In short, it would seem for the moment that Loki’s characters could return in the next chapters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but not a series in itself. In other words, there might not be a third season, but never say never.
