The new fully electric premium minivan is the model Volvo EM90. It wasn’t just designed to be a comfortable living room on the go and a car that provides living space to share with loved ones. It is also a car that amplifies the appeal of Volvo Cars and meets a growing number of customer needs.
Volvo EM90 offers the ability to innovate
The EM90 demonstrates the great ability to innovate and respond to specific market demands. The segment of minivan (MPV) has gained considerable popularity in recent years, especially in several parts of Asia. This is one of the main reasons why the EM90 will be introduced first in China, the world’s largest automotive market.
Following the launch of the EX30 compact SUV, the EM90 is the second expansion of our model portfolio in a short space of time. Both the EX30 and EM90 will help communicate with a new audienceto control a larger portion of the global automotive market and achieve more profitable volumes.
Volvo is aiming for an electric-only range by 2030
The EM90 also reinforces the aim of becoming a car manufacturer with one fully electric range by 2030. Over the next few years, an entire family of new all-electric models will be introduced, offering everything customers expect from a Volvo with zero tailpipe emissions.
The Duett, Volvo’s cornerstone
Although the MPV vehicle segment is new, the concept of versatility it is very dear to Volvo. In fact, the 1953 Volvo Duett was developed to be a versatile and spacious car many years before the MPV typology was formally created.
The duet, a cornerstone of the rich past and about to celebrate its 70th birthday, is still one of the most sought after Volvo models by collectors and enthusiasts today. It was very popular among both families and entrepreneurs in Scandinavia and the United States.
Over time, the Duett inspired the world-famous station wagon range, and was an equally important source of inspiration for our designers when they began work on the EM90.
