Polestar confirms production start of Polestar 4, with first deliveries to customers in China expected by the end of 2023
Polestar, Swedish car manufacturer controlled by Volvo Cars, confirms the start of the production Of Polestar 4, with first customer deliveries in China expected by the end of 2023. The official launch in all other Polestar markets is scheduled for early 2024, with customer deliveries later this year. The first car to roll off the production line is finished in Snow with i Swedish gold details of the Performance Pack. This is the first Polestar produced at the Hangzhou Bay factory operated by Geely Holding, powered by renewable energy which carries the certificate of hydroelectric energy I-REC, combined with photovoltaic energy generated on the factory roof.

The green credentials from the factory have played a significant role in reducing the environmental impact of Polestar 4 which, at 19.4-21.4 tCO2e, has the lowest carbon footprint of any Polestar at launch. The laboratory adopts different methods to reduce harmful waste, including:
- Chromium-free passivation to reduce water pollution.
- Water-based paint to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds.
- Filtering through dry paper in ovens to remove atomized paint, achieve zero excess water generation during the painting process and significantly reduce air conditioning energy use by 60%.
- Rotary concentrator and regenerative thermal oxidizer to effectively treat exhaust gases from the factory.

Polestar 4 was presented for the first time at the Shanghai Auto Show inApril 2023. Starting in the second half of 2025, additional production will be added in Busan, IN South Korea, for the local market and for export to North American markets. The SUV coupé is the second SUV in the Polestar range. Furthermore, in addition to incorporating design elements first seen on Polestar concept cars, it is also the fastest Polestar production car to date.
