Confirmation arrives directly from the director himself, Taika Waititi will not direct Thor 5, thus declaring that he is done with the God of Thunder and is busy with other projects
The recent Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by New Zealand director Taika Waititi, did not receive very positive reviews, becoming the lowest rated Thor film on Rotten Tomatoes. Many fans did not appreciate the excessively comical streak that the director gave to the character played by Chris Hemsworth, actually preferring the Shakespearean Thor of the first films about the God of Thunder and the Avengers. Indeed, the colors that Waititi gave to the character were harshly criticized. Already recently it was rumored that Thor 5 would not be directed by the director, and now the latter gives official confirmation: he will not direct the film.

After months of rumors, therefore, Taika Waititi officially confirms that he will no longer direct The God of Thunder. The director spoke about the fifth film dedicated to the Norse god in an interview with Business Insider, while he was promoting his new film Whoever teaches winsspeaking precisely of the rumors that have been circulating lately and of his involvement in the new Asgardian project.
I don’t know if they really will. What I know for sure is that I won’t be working on it. I will focus on a series of films that I have made commitments to. I imagine Thor 5 will come out long before I’m done with my Star Wars movie. He’s still marinating, I’m writing it. But I love Marvel, I love working with them, and I love Chris. I would never feel betrayed by them, we have an open relationship and if they want to see other people I’m fine with that. I’m ready to go back to bed with them one day.
The director commented ironically, revealing that he was busy working on his film Star Wars, which however still seems to be a distant project. Among his other works, there is the adaptation of Klara and the sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, which will be his next film. According to the director, these projects will keep him busy for the next ones 6 or 7 years. We are curious to find out, therefore, who will be the next director to direct the character of Thor, perhaps restoring the dramatic tones of the first films and those we saw in Infinity War.
