So here we are, Black Friday is upon us. But only if we focus on Friday 24 November.
Yet, we know, we now have to talk about Black Friday days, which begin at least a week before the fateful fourth Friday of November and which continue well beyond Cyber Monday, set this year on Monday the 27th.
In addition to the many and often tempting opportunities, there are quite a few risks. Meanwhile, that of being too hasty and purchasing by pandering to offers that weren’t all that unrepeatable. And then, that of falling victim to deception attempts of various kinds. In short: desire and impulsiveness can play bad tricks.
Luckily, at least the main marketplaces apply a generous return policy, both during Black Friday and on the remaining days of the year. So let’s see how returns work on Black Friday for Amazon, Mediaworld and Unieuro.
Black Friday: i resi di Amazon
Even for the Black Friday period, Amazon’s return policy is really easy.
Amazon allows you to return almost all items purchased, except those in a small list that we will report in the next paragraph.
Amazon returns work in two ways, depending on the return time of the product we want to get rid of.
If you return it within 14 days of the purchase date, this will constitute a withdrawal from the sales contractfor which the entire amount of the product will be refunded, including shipping.
From the fifteenth to the thirtieth day, it is about rethinking: the cost of the product is refunded but not the shipping.
Even if the product is sold by third parties, the cost of the item will be refunded but not the shipping costs, unless the return is made pursuant to the legal guarantee.
Amazon’s Christmas extension
As you can read on Amazon’s return policies page, there is a special extension for the Christmas period, and it is not the first year that the main online marketplace has applied it.
“In celebration of the 2023 holiday season, returnable items purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2023 will be available for return until January 31, 2024. Our standard 30-day return policies will once again apply to items purchased on or after November 1 ° January 2024.”
Let’s take a concrete example. If we want to return a product purchased on Black Friday, i.e. November 24th, we would have had until December 24th to return it. But thanks to the Christmas extension we will gain more than a month.
On which items Amazon does not apply returns
There are seven categories of items sold by Amazon on which returns cannot be applied. Here they are:
- items made to measure or clearly personalized
- sealed items which are not suitable for return for hygienic or health protection reasons and which have been opened after delivery or in the case of products which, after delivery, are inseparably mixed with other goods
- alcoholic beverages, the actual value of which depends on market fluctuations that cannot be controlled by Amazon
- audiovisual products and software on CD, DVD or other medium, whose packaging has been opened or its seals have been removed
- newspapers, periodicals and magazines with the exception of subscription contracts for the supply of such publications
- digital content provided in a non-material medium once performance has begun
- Amazon.it gift vouchers.
Black Friday and returns: Mediaworld
The return of Amazon products is applicable within 14 days from the date of purchase, and is reserved for natural persons.
The entire price of the product is refunded but the shipping costs remain the responsibility of the customer.
If the product is not returned intact, we read that “MediaWorld reserves the right not to accept the return or not to fully refund the sums paid for the purchase.”
The products to be returned can be sent back to the company or delivered to a point of sale.
Black Friday and returns: Unieuro
Black Friday returns for Unieuro products can also be made within 14 days.
And “in the case of separate delivery of multiple goods, relating to a single order, the 14-day period starts from the day of delivery of the last good”.
The return can be made via courier or in a Unieuro store. In the first case, Unieuro sends an email with confirmation of receipt of the goods, and within 14 days carries out the refund (excluding shipping costs). For in-store returns, by showing the online purchase order you are entitled to a refund via shopping vouchers.
