Polestar 5, the Swedish statement towards the future

The Polestar 5 it will have a top variant with 871 HP and 900 Nm, delivered by two electric motors and four-wheel drive. According to what was promised, the machine will have aautonomy of 600 km with a full charge and 800 volt architecture for much faster charging.

SK On battery cells
For the batteries of the Polestar 5which will enter production in 2025, the Swedish company has chosen SK Ona global supplier of electric vehicle batteries based in Seoul, IN South Korea. The company launched in 2021 will supply the battery cell modules for the new concept car.
Very long cells make up the pack battery, approximately 56 cm, with high chemical performance and high nickel content. This configuration of battery for the Polestar 5 it should provide greater energy density and increase both driving range and fast charging.

Polestar and SK On: the agreement is reality
L’agreement between Polestar and SK On is finalized by the beginning of November 2023, shortly before the official presentation of the Polestar 5 in Los Angeles. And the South Korean company was chosen precisely for the excellent results obtained in the production of battery cells efficient.
Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: “Our relationship with SK On has been fruitful following our initial MOU and their investment in our brand. Polestar 5 is in development at a rapid pace and will feature this high-capacity battery to deliver the performance expected from our grand tourer.”
This is echoed by Jee Dong-seob, CEO of SK On: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Polestar on its high-end EV model. We will consolidate our partnership with Polestar and create new opportunities through this agreement.”
