A year and a half after the release of the first season, all the news you need to know about The Sandman season two
The Netflix series The Sandman, whose first season was released in summer 2022, has been renewed for a second season. Already on paper it had an excellent chance of being renewed and in the end it was exactly like that. Since the debut of the series on August 5, 2022, Neil Gaiman and David S. Goyer have declared themselves quite confident about the future of the show. The writers immediately got to work on a potential second season. The work was progressing quite quickly compared to the debut chapter. In fact, it is easier when the audience is already accustomed to the reality of Sandman, with which they became familiar in the first cycle of episodes. However, despite these excellent premises, it was thought that the second season could be at risk due to the very high budget that the series requires to be made. So the show’s future wasn’t certain until the reveal in early November.
News on the plot of The Sandman season two
The story reported in the TV series is based on Dream or Morpheus, one of the seven immortal beings, known as the Eternals, who control different aspects of existence. Morpheus is the ruler of the Kingdom of Dreamsa dimension that everyone visits when they dream, and which nourishes fantasies, hopes and creativity. The first season adapted the first two volumes of the graphic novel, but the real family drama of the Eternals doesn’t begin until the fourth volume, which will hopefully see its adaptation in season two. The plot of the second chapter should therefore show us Dream grappling with Lucifer’s threats, just as he will be busy fighting his own brothers, Desire and Despair. Neil Gaiaman has stated that the second season will be a direct sequel to the first.
The Sandman series is a production of DC Comics, DC Entertainment, Netflix, Phantom Four Films, The Blank Corporation and Warner Bros. Television, with Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg among the executive producers. It is a Netflix original content so there are no doubts about the platform on which to find the episodes.
