Less than a week after the early access launch of The Day Beforethe development team Fntastic who was aiming for Triple A without even putting the vowel in his name closes its doors. The studio has guaranteed that the servers will remain operational, although the future of the game is currently “unknown”. The same goes for the release two years ago, Propnight. The developers cut the ribbon in 2015 with the gestation of The Wild Eight, released in 2017. The reason is tangible in the statement, which we have reported below. Predictably (and without any reason for blame), the replies to the tweet are peppered with protests, requests for refunds and in some cases legal threats.

“Today we announce that the Fntastic studio is closing permanently: unfortunately, The Day Before has failed financially, and we do not have the funds to continue,” begins the post above. “All proceeds will be used to pay off debts to partners.” The “mea culpa” continues by praising the efforts, resources and manpower poured into the development of the “first great game” which will not receive the patches with which to reach its “full potential”. The absence of “pre-orders or fundraisers” has not stopped players on Steam (maximum ceiling 38,104, dropped to 4197 at the time of writing the article) to exploit the PC Focus method reported above to request a refund: avoid complaints, in favor of a formal finding of the difference between the trailer and the game accompanied by links to the Forbes magazine regarding the scam.
