Confirmation finally arrives directly from Amazon Prime Video: Good Omens will have a third season, but it will be the last of the series, where Aziraphale and Crowley will reach the end of the story
After the various rumors coming from the insiders, Amazon Prime Video has finally announced the news we were all waiting for: Good Omens will have a third season, which however will be the last. In fact, if the first and second seasons resumed the events of Neil Gaiman’s original work, the third season will be based on an old conversation between him and the late Terry Pratchett about what would happen to the characters after the events of their best-selling novel.
What can we expect from the third season of Good Omens
Precisely regarding the announcement of the third and final season, the head of television of Amazon MGM Studios, Vernon Sandershas spoken out about the potential of a live action adaptation of the Good Omens novel.
Good Omens has all the makings of a smart, witty and funny comedy that not only succeeded on Amazon Prime Video, but also made morality fun thanks to the creativity of Neil and Terry.
Obviously we have yet to know anything about the plot, but Vernon Sanders has assured us fans of the series that the third season will have the exact same energy as the first two seasons that we have come to know and appreciate over the years. Neil Gaiman also added:
I’m very happy to finally be able to come to the conclusion of the story that Terry and I had planned in 1989 and 2006. Terry was convinced that if we made the Good Omens series, we could tell the story to the end. The first season focused on avoiding the Apocalypse, dangerous prophecies and the end of the world. The second season was sweet and delicate, even if it could have ended less happily than an angel and a demon could have hoped. Now, in season three, we will once again face the end of the world. Plans for the Apocalypse are going awry. Only Crowley and Aziraphale, working together, can hope to make things right. And they don’t talk to each other.
The executive producer also joined in to talk about the third season of Good Omens Rob Wilkins, revealing that he was very happy to be able to return to work with the final season, after Crowley and Aziraphale broke our hearts in the finale of the second. It will be a real joy to see the dynamic duo formed by again David Tennant e Michael Sheen come together to face the Apocalypse. The only thing he regrets is that Terry Pratchett won’t be able to see the third season and therefore witness the conclusion of the story he started some time ago with his colleague and friend Neil Gaiman.
