A dangerous team about which it is better to know everything: here is the dossier of Kill the Justice League, the video game debut of the Suicide Squad
We have already talked recently about titles around the corner, and returning Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in the “hype 2024” category we found it useful to gather anything that might be useful to know in a practical handbook. The Caped Crusader Second Rocksteady Studios it therefore gives way to the reckless scoundrels in the pay of Amanda Waller. In this adventure (or jumble of firefights, with a live service you can never tell), we will take the reins of some bad guys intent on doing the work of the good guys while the good guys are temporarily the lackeys of the bad guys. And yes, Rocksteady solemnly swears that this time superheroes will leave us superpens. But has it ever really happened? Anyway, let’s take things in order… (Almost all videos are in English due to YouTube’s minimum age guidelines.)
Release date and first impressions | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
The first thing you’ll want (but already should) know is when he comes out Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. L’attesa durerà until February 2or for those who are eligible forearly accessuntil the January 30th. The postponement to the current date is due to the reception that the public has given to the game after the first trailers. It’s time to the embargo for the largest foreign newspapers is disappearing, the delay seems to have paid off. “Roaming around Metropolis wouldn’t have been like the Arkham trilogy, after which the eternal darkness of Gotham gives way to a colorful playground where everything is over the top: a more fun party than I ever expected,” writes Jasmine Gould -Wilson of GamesRadar.
Platforms and gameplay | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
What will the game be about in the end? Predictably, Metropolis is no country for old men. In other words, therefore, we are talking about PC, Xbox Series X, PS5 ed Xbox Series S. Consoles have been around for over two years now: it was only a matter of time before the major releases started dodging PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. As for gameplay, you can admire each protagonist in action with a separate article: Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang and, finally, Deadshot. All well diversified, both in battle and in their way of crossing the map. You will have to exploit the strengths of the “class” that best suits your playing style.
Trailer and story | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
From trailer “generic” the game has received three so far. The first accompanied the reveal of the title at the 2020 DC Fandome. The second arrived in October 2021. Finally, the gameplay showed up two months later, shedding light on offensive and movement abilities for each of the antiheroes. Not without Easter eggs galore, of course. Also because the turnaround requires them a little: that little bit of sugar to swallow the bitter narrative pill. Brainiac succeeded in making the Justice League his horsemen of the Apocalypse. It will be up to the four criminals recruited by Amanda Waller, ready to explode at the slightest hint of insubordination, to fight this impossible battle in an original story written from scratch by the development team.
Mobility | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
The mobility of the characters is based on what was already appreciated in the Arkham trilogy. The presence of four protagonists, described by Sefton Hill as the result of “bringing iconic characters like Batman to life the Rocksteady way,” it enlarges the playing field while giving the player more options. All four need to acclimatize with their abilities and divergences, but without binding us to just one of them. It is indeed possible switch from one character to another on the fly, with a good AI to manage the other three when playing in single-player. From Deadshot’s jetpack to Harley’s agility, passing through Captain Boomerang’s propulsion: the experience promises to be full of possibilities for managing the chaos unleashed in Metropolis.
Battle Pass and co-op | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
With many writers and artists dividing up the DC universe on paper, it’s more than normal for characters to have many costumes and, let’s face it, an excuse for a Pass Battaglia the other is valid. Rocksteady swears to us that no gameplay advantages will come with it and we’re counting on it: after all, the classic Harley costume included with the pre-order is one of life’s little pleasures. Not to mention, then, that post-launch content will be free for a year. A good environment, in short, to play in co-opespecially with an almost imperceptible drop-in/drop-out component, making single-player and multiplayer both equally valid alternatives. Nothing is known yet about cross-playand in these cases it translates as a classic “we’ll let you know”.
Protagonists and antagonists | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
If you’ve followed the Arkhamverse in all its forms, you’ll be familiar with all four protagonists. Specifically, Floyd “Deadshot” Lawton and Harley Quinn have already appeared in the video games, while Captain Boomerang and King Shark made an appearance in the 2014 animated film Batman: Assault on Arkham (which is canon for the games). We’ll also find Amanda Waller as the stern head of operations and Gizmo as the group’s inventor, while Wonder Woman could help us avoid a The Boys-style scenario. As for the enemies, Brainiac is, well, the mind, while we will have to manage three arms: Flash, Green Lantern and, most worryingly, Superman. We don’t comment on Batman, but if you’ve finished Arkham Knight you’ll know why.
Potential and canonicity | What to know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
From what little we know, SS:KtJL could be it one of the key titles of the year that has just begun. Eight long years kept us separated from the Arkhamverse after Arkham Knight’s grand finale, and Rocksteady’s absence from the scene has been palpable ever since. With a playful Sunset Overdrive-style atmosphere (and hopefully maybe a few more grosses), all the game is missing is a final push in marketing. For which, by the way, an emphasis on canonicity it could be of enormous help. Of course, this won’t be the way fans of the Arkham trilogy hoped to see Justice League, but at least we know what the backstory is for some characters (one above all, Harley).
“Wait a minute, canon? Something doesn’t add up!”
Yes, there is one thing you might know before starting Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Do you remember what we said about Captain Boomerang and King Shark? Well, in theory they should be dead. Now, we don’t know if anyone has touched the legendary Lazarus Pit, but this would also give us some hope for the salvation of superheroes, as well as for the return of Batman following the uncertain conclusion of Arkham Knight. We’ll see in a couple of weeks which rabbit Rocksteady will pull out of the hat, or whether he will opt for the easy Star Wars route by excluding comics and animated films set in the same narrative universe from the canon.
