The reason is the great success achieved by the original series created by Ricky Gervais e Stephen Merchant, broadcast on the BBC. A triumph with the public, which also extended to streaming platforms. The project is handled by Greg Daniels, responsible for adapting The Office for American audiences. Daniels oversaw the research of a team of writers, who are already working to create the film script.

Well, I think that’s very speculative. The fact that it all came about based on a line in a Puck song was pretty cool, I guess, in the sense that fans still really care about it. But the thing I would say is, when there’s something to announce, I’ll definitely announce it. I don’t like to think of anything as a reboot, you know what I mean? Because I feel like we ended that story beautifully.
The characters had closure. I would never want to do the same show again with a different cast, because I think we had the best cast ever on TV to do that show. So, the idea of a reboot is not appealing. The idea of something like in the way that ‘The Mandalorian’ is a new show in the Star Wars universe, you know what I mean? Something like the idea of this documentary crew making a documentary on a different topic. This, I think, could be intriguing and creative.
It will be interesting to follow The Office also as reboot to discover the creative path of the comedy screenwriters.
