The Liberty Walk F40 is the result of a bizarre aesthetic kit to customize the Autozam AZ-1: a pocket-sized ‘Ferrari’ at the price of a small car
The 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon gave us many interesting innovations, some large, some smaller. In this case it’s something really tiny, but very tasty and extravagant. The Japanese tuner Liberty Walk (here is the link to his official website) is no stranger to the customization of Ferrari F40s, having already presented a specific enlargement kit (widebody).
This time however it’s not just simple tuning but of an operation that could be defined as ‘chameleonic’: the Liberty Walk F40 is in fact nothing other than a Mazda Autozam AZ-1, revised and corrected to show muscles from Ferrari. For those who have no idea what an Autozam AZ-1 is, let us specify that it is a tiny sports car (one of the so-called Keicars) sold exclusively in Japan in the 1990s. For those who own one and are interested in transforming it into a Liberty Walk F40, the requested amount is 22,600 dollars (more or less 20,000 euros).
To this sum must then be added the costs of assembly, painting and any extras. However, no changes are foreseen for the mechanical part, which remains faithful to a humble but lively one three cylinders of 657 cc and 63 HP. A more than adequate power seen such small dimensionsbut certainly not worthy of the Cavallino that could observe this creation with quite a few reservations, given the strict protection policies adopted by Ferrari for its creations.
Liberty Walk F40: when the garage is too small for a Ferrari!
A nice idea that divides opinions: However, it is impossible to go unnoticed aboard this bizarre chimera! The transformation of the original car is profound and evident starting from the front. Front fascia and bonnet they faithfully reflect the lines of the legendary F40as well as the door panels equipped with features air vents. The typical aerodynamic appendages are not even missing, fin firstand lights very similar to the original one.
Even at the rear everything has been revised in a Ferrari key, with an extravagant and nice ‘Horse effect’. Bottom line, just the general proportions of the car they remain decidedly unusual, betraying the much more humble origins of the car. The structure, thanks to all these changes, is the result aesthetically lower and can benefit (on request) from forged rims with six spokes in black, 16″ at the front and 17″ at the rear.
As far as internal customization is concerned, nothing is known yet, except the obvious presence of sports seats which however could be optional, like the rims. Patience if it will not be possible to opt for pop-up headlights and conventionally opening doors: you can even forgive this for such an ironic and courageous creation!
