The film saga of Avatar has found considerable success, just think of the fact that the first film is at first place in the list of the highest-grossing films in the history of cinema. Now, even before releasing the third film in theaters, James Cameron thinks about Avatar 6, revealing that he has ideas for the film, but also for a seventh. At the moment there is nothing to communicate, but the sixth and seventh chapters will be there, even if we will have to wait a long time, given that the fifth chapter will be released in 2031while the third film is recording the final shots.
James Cameron and the ideas for Avatar 6 and 7
With a universe as vast as that of the Na’vi, Cameron can’t help but think about the potential of the saga. The ideas he came up with for Avatar 6 and 7 are nothing more than a side effect of the gigantic franchise he created. At the moment the director of Titanic e Terminator is busy with post-production on Avatar 3, which will be released in 2025. Cameron spoke about the saga to Saturn Awards, explaining how vast the universe is and how many plot ideas can be developed. As soon as he finished writing the fifth film, he is already thinking about the sixth and seventh films, but he doubts that he will make them, aware of being mortal.
Sooner or later he will have to pass the baton to someone, but he wanted to remember that great narrative universes were born this way, as he did George Lucas with Star Wars. In regards to this, Cameron revealed that to create the world of Avatar he was inspired by the franchise Lucasfilm and wants to leave his mark on cinema by making the Avatar franchise a cultural phenomenon. In our opinion, he is succeeding, considering the box office receipts, reviews, audiences and critics who praised both the first and second films. Avatar has all it takes to become a saga as big as Star Wars.
