Alien: Romulus, film title and poster revealed

20th Century Studios has shared some details on the upcoming film Alien: Romulus, confirming the official title and first poster

While the synopsis remains rather vague, limiting itself to stating that in the next film young people from a distant world must face the most terrifying life form in the universe, a full stop has been put on the title of the next chapter of Alien. The film, which is scheduled for release in August 16th this year, is played by the actress Cailee Spaenycon Isabela Merced, Aileen Wu, Spike Fearn, David Jonsson and Archie Renaux in supporting roles and will be called Alien: Romulus. Below you will also find the poster of the film.

Romulus takes place between the events of the original Alien by Ridley Scott and James Cameron’s sequel, Aliens. It should therefore fit between the first and second films and for this very reason the production aims to bring the same team from Aliens, the film James Cameron. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually designed the ones in the upcoming film.

The film is also produced by Scott Free, the company of original Alien director Ridley Scott, who is executive producing. With the title Alien: Romulus, not much has yet been revealed about the setting and plot of the film. In April, Fede Alvarez had released a behind-the-scenes image of a facehugger clutching the film’s clapperboard aboard a space station. The presence of the facehugger confirms that the film will take place after the events of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, which represented the origins of the Xenomorphs as we know them.

Álvarez’s experience with films Home and Man in the Dark could also suggest that the writer-director will take the franchise back to its origins, with a thriller where the cast is hunted by aliens within the confines of the space station. We therefore expect further details on the plot to be revealed in the coming months.
