Amazon Prime Video’s latest original TV series has won the hearts of many fans, but one of the most enigmatic, cryptic and fascinating characters in the world of Hazbin Hotel is Alastor

This animated series literally made us fall in love and, from what we have seen around, from the reactions of critics and the public, we are sure that you too loved this animated series and we have to thank that genius Vivienne Medrano. No wonder, because this series is full of very interesting characters in which, depending on our life experiences, we can see ourselves. But there is one character in particular who has caught our attention and about whom we have many unanswered questions, but let’s try to answer them with theories. Today’s question regarding Hazbin Hotel is only one: who really is Alastor?
Who was he before he died? | Hazbin Hotel: Who is Alastor?
Always sticking to what Vivienne Medrano released during interviews (but also from what we see within the series), Alastor was a radio star. She had her own radio broadcaster and he died in 1933. From what we have managed to understand, in addition to being a very popular star and much followed by radio communications and podcast enthusiasts, Alastor era un serial killer. This would be the reason why Alastor would end up in hell, for having a passion for killing as well as transmitting communications using the radio transmitter. But now, speaking of his demonic nature, because the deer?
Connecting to the fact that Alastor had a passion for killing people for his own pleasure, the man necessarily needed a place to hide the corpses. What place was he best suited to hide corpses so that the police wouldn’t find out who was responsible for all those murders? Alastor hid the bodies of his victims in a deer hunting camp. No one went there, except for the hunters, who were busy hunting their prey anyway. One day, however, things went wrong terribly crooked. In fact, Alastor, while he was about to bury a corpse, he was mistaken for a deer by a hunter. The hunter shot him right in the forehead and that’s how Alastor ended up going to hell.

As we have already said before, Alastor is an enigmatic and mysterious character, perhaps the most mysterious of the entire TV series. If, in fact, we learn everything about the other characters about their past and how they sold their soul to the wrong person, on the contrary, We know almost nothing about Alastor. We only know that Alastor is one of the Overlord dell’Inferno and that, according to what was stated by the creator of the series, Alastor is a Wendigo. As we see in some scenes, in fact, Alastor has the horns of a deer and in others we see him feeding on his peers. According to the legend of the Wendigo, anyone who feeds on his own kind becomes the famous creature of folklore.
We do not know, however, why Alastor disappeared. In the series they keep telling us that Alastor didn’t show up for 7 years. Where was he? What did he do for all that time? We are not allowed to know this. Apart from his superb nature as a man with an enormous ego who makes us laugh in some comic gags, this thing is not to be underestimated. In those 7 years she definitely did something, something that could lead to consequences that will change the fate of the characters from the second season onwards.

This is the most important point of this character analysis. In one of the episodes, precisely inepisode 5we come to discover, thanks to the character of Husk, that Alastor he sold his soul to someone. Now, however, let’s ask ourselves the most important question of this whole issue: to those who sold their soul? First of all, let’s take into account that Alastor is not only one of the most powerful characters in the animated series, but also one of the most cunning. Deceiving him is very difficult, and it is even more difficult to beat him, so asking ourselves this question seems more than legitimate: who took over Alastor’s soul? Actually, we have various theories. To answer this question, let’s analyze the christian myth. Analyzing the character carefully, we find many similarities with the character of Christian demonology, namely the jailer of Hell.
Furthermore, the jailer of Hell he would be Lucifer’s executioner. As we see in the series, however, Alastor has nothing to do with Lucifer, so who could he have sold his soul to? There is a very popular theory on the web according to which Alastor would sell his soul to Lilith. It would be a really nice move if that were the case, given that in demonology Lilith is the Devil’s wife. If she really made the pact for Alastor’s soul, then Lilith probably sent Alastor to protect her daughter Charlie as her executor. But as we saw, Alastor made a deal with Charlie and this could work in his favor. Making a pact with his daughter could free him from the pact made with Lilith and therefore make him much more powerful and therefore more dangerous.
A mysterious man
What makes Alastor one of the most fascinating characters in the world of Hazbin Hotel is precisely the aura of mystery that surrounds him. In the series we see him do amazing things that leave us speechless, beyond his ruthless and sadistic way of killing. Alastor has so much charisma, a charisma that led him to be loved, respected and even feared by all the characters within the universe. Not only that, it’s also an advantage for us, because let’s face it, every time we see him on stage it’s a real pleasure. With what we have seen within the series, we know for sure that Alastor has great potential and that he will be one of the central characters from next season onwards.
