The star of The Witcher and Superman in the DCU Henry Cavill would be ready to officially debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
It would seem that the role offered to Henry Cavill is that of Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four reboot, but it’s not the only option circulating on the web. In the corridors of Marvel Studios, in the last few hours, a rather tasty rumor has been circulating, namely that the English actor, recently seen in the spy-story Argylle, could be about to debut in the MCU. There are rumors that he was offered a role and, understandably, the thoughts of the people of the web immediately flew to the Fantastic Four reboot. Could the British actor lend his face to Doctor Doom? Let’s take a step back and try to see clearly.
On Valentine’s Day, the studios officially announced the cast of the long-awaited cinecomic, however limiting themselves to revealing which stars will play the quartet of superheroes. Peter Pascal will be Reed Richard, aka Mister Fantastic, while Susan Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, has been chosen Vanessa Kirby. La star di Stanger Things, Joseph Quinnwill play Johnny Storm and his alter ego, the Human Torch and finally, Ebon Moss-Bachrach is confirmed in the role of Ben Grimm, The Thing. The film directed by Matt Shakman is expected in theaters on July 25, 2025.
Henry Cavill: what will be his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
There is no news on a crucial character for the franchise, namely Doctor Doom. Months ago there were rumors that Marvel Studios’ first choice was the 2024 Oscar nominee Cillian Murphy. Also taken into consideration Mads Mikklesen, who however declined the offer. They were also rumored to be in contention Ryan Gosling, Josh Hartnett, Ralph Fiennes e Jason Clarke. In any case, according to the most credible hypotheses in circulation, the very dangerous villain could only appear in the post-credit scene.
At the moment all eyes are on Henry Cavill. Was he the one who ultimately prevailed in the casting? Apparently, no, the former face of Superman will not be Doctor Doom. There is some truth, however. Fans are leaning towards Brian Braddock, aka Captain Britain. The hero created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe first appeared in 1976, in the British section of Marvel Comics. Considering Cavill’s nationality and his exuberant physicality, the hypothesis does not seem entirely inconsistent. At this point, all that remains is to wait for more precise news both on the casting of Doctor Doom and on Henry Cavill’s first role in the MCU.
