Directed by Timur Bekmambetovthe film of the Amazon MGM Studios Mercy has recently added actress Rebecca Ferguson to its cast, in addition to the protagonist Chris Pratt. Now we also know something more about the film’s release date.
It looks like Mercy is looking to add some spice to next year’s late summer box office. The release date of the thriller which will star Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson has in fact been revealed. Amazon MGM Studios will distribute this dystopian action thriller in theaters worldwide exactly on August 15, 2025.

Mercy, based on a screenplay by Marco van Belle, stars Chris Pratt as a near-future detective who is accused of a violent crime and must prove his innocence in a society where capital crimes are on the rise. The project came to Amazon MGM via the veteran and prolific producer Charles Rovenbusy this week celebrating the Oscar win for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Roven produces Mercy alongside Atlas Entertainment Senior Vice President Robert Amidon, along with Bekmambetov’s BEL and producer Majd Nassif. Filming is expected to begin in the spring. Bekmambetov is known for action films such as Wanted, starring Angelina Jolie e James McAvoy. After e-commerce giant Amazon acquired MGM Studios for $8.45 billion, the new Amazon MGM Studios group launched a major push into movie theaters, starting with Air, directed by Ben Affleck. We will therefore see how it will behave in summer cinemas, if it will be able to partially replicate the success of Barbie and Oppenheimer, also released in cinemas in August 2023.
