The last two Grands Prix have given us many emotions and many surprises, but it seems that things are not going right for Leclerc, with quite a few driving difficulties in the Saudi Arabian GP
Great satisfactions for the young Dutch driver Max Verstappen, who finished first in qualifying in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, reaching the much desired pole position. At the same time there was also the young British driver Oliver Bearman, who did a excellent debut in F1 replacing Carlos Sainz for the match due to a appendicitis problem and finishing in eighth place, just behind Lewis Hamilton. Really great results for both of us, but things aren’t going so well for Charles Leclerc, who encountered many driving problems due to the tires in the Saudi Arabian GP. This problem would have slowed the driver down quite a bit, causing him to end up in third place, with well 30 tenths more to complete around than the Red Bull. An excellent result certainly, but one which he achieved with difficulty in any case.
Leclerc at the Saudi Arabian GP: where is the difficulty?
They confirmed that the Monegasque driver’s driving problems are due precisely to wheel saturation. Pirelli’s Chief Engineer, Simone Berra, commented on the incident, claiming that the problem does not lie in the temperature of the track, but in the wheels itself. Leclerc had difficulties at the start due to a really low grip which put the Ferrari champion in considerable difficulty, but the real problem lies in the saturation of the wheels which was not suitable for the type of asphalt on which he was competing. Leclerc also tried to do two more test laps, but they still didn’t help. Instead, they noticed that, on a track like that of Jeddah, there is much less difficulty with already used wheelstherefore already subjected to stress, rather than with new tyres.
Maybe they will be able to make some improvements, but the difficulty lies precisely in finding tires suitable for the different types of tracks. Do you think Leclerc will be able to recover? Continue to follow us on techgameworld.com for other news from the world of Formula 1 and much more.
