After Atlus it's Ubisoft's turn: again based on the average Metacritic score, we found the best games from the transalpine publisher
Twenty-four hours into our ranking for Atlus, we've rounded up Ubisoft's best games following the exact same criterion. True: the French gaming publisher has become a bit arrogant with its predilection for consolidated IPs and “Originals”, but there is no shortage of variety as well as genres covered, as well as the greatest exponents from whom we have obtained the five masterpieces that we will talk about briefly today. Like James Stephanie Sterling or not, Europe's most colossal production company is here to stay, and the same goes for Far Cry and the usual Assassin's Creed. Not to mention the new IPs, such as Immortals Fenyx Rising or the recent Skull and Bones. Whose turn is it below!
5) Assassin's Creed II | The best Ubisoft games
Before consulting the average of Metacritic for the games published by Ubisoft, we murmured among ourselves: “just see which one stands out among the best Assassin’s Creed II”. Don't worry, but a an average of 91 out of 100 you just can't say no. While Origins kicked off the turning point (or drift, depending on who you consult) RPG of the series, it is the second chapter that holds the representative reins of the series firmly. In 2009 the game was all the rage, and despite all its wrinkles we are very happy to see that lovable scoundrel Ezio Auditore as the very Italian face of the series. Really.
4) Far Cry 3 | The best Ubisoft games
Although the series has been around since 2012, it has been with Far Cry 3 that the franchise exploded in popularity. The reason is a first-person shooter experience with a first-person view. Other 91/100, therefore, and with a good reason: no frills, just a good campaign with a twist that makes the plot intriguing even for fans who expected everything from a first-person shooter, except to pay attention to the narrative sector. The success prevented Ubisoft from deviating too much from a promising blueprint for future games, creating the open-world first-person shooter concept seen in Far Cry 4 and 5. Influential, popular and aged well: a mix as crazy as Vaas' mind.
3) Rayman Legends | The best Ubisoft games
And thank goodness Ubisoft also remembers that it has one of the most beloved platforming IPs from time to time. Rayman Legends nowadays lives on definitive editions and ports, but Michel's last-born “the Shigeru Miyamoto from beyond the Alps” Ancel that 92/100 he earned it. Deviating from the almost obsessive 18+ target, at the expense of a suicidal postponement (created for Wii U and then moving the date of all versions to the same period as GTA V) the game brings fans back to the simple and ingenious approach of its predecessor Origins. Ergo, no lives in exchange for a higher challenge rate, while fantasy takes power. Unraveling a tangled knot of gameplay ideas as you go along.
2) Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time | The best Ubisoft games
The “rebel teen” years of the gaming industry were not necessarily just an unwatchable jumble of faded colors for the sake of realism: the period between 2000 and 2010 also gave us pearls that are still much loved today. The first one that comes to mind is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Timealso comfortably resting on the laurels of 92/100. It's a shame that Ubisoft prefers the white-clad Assassins, because the creativity of the level design in the 2000s trilogy, combined with the peculiar combat and (naturally) the time rewind mechanic made the three titles classics. The first, in particular, rivals many others around today, so we advise you to do yourself a favor and get it. If possible.
Honorable Mentions | The best Ubisoft games
Who missed the top 5? 17 more titles, in this case, which due to diktat from above we cannot dwell on. We expected to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game placed higher than the twenty-second and last place (79/100), which is why it was a source of regret to see Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope in seventeenth position (85/100). Who are the five who stood out enough to overtake these two, but not enough to place at the top? The list is yours. (And yes, as in the best clickbait, “sixth place will surprise you!”)

Verba volant, scripta manent and above all we are basing ourselves on mere numbers to decree which are the best games from Ubisoft in this case. And with a 94/100 (on average, let's remember) you just can't argue. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory takes the crown, as spokesperson for a genre now as much at risk of extinction as that of platformers: the stealth genre. While Hitman is still around and Kojima is about to get back to what he does best, Chaos Theory has given players a more generous license to kill, making the world realistic, authentic and, with multiplayer involved, chaotic too. Why Ubisoft makes so little use of it, then, remains a headache for us too.
