Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the April update with security patches are on the way, but battery life is a concern
The April security patches for Samsung foldables are finally arriving: Galaxy Z Fold5 e Z Flip5 are receiving the update which includes the fixes for vulnerabilities notes from last month. Rollout has started in Europe, but it may take a few more days before it reaches all devices.
Builds with the April patches are identified by the numbers F946BXXS1CXCH for Galaxy Z Fold5 and F731BXXS1CXCK for Galaxy Z Flip5. It seems like they don't include any new features other than those related to safetywhich is a bit disappointing considering some issues that emerged with the One UI 6.1 update at the end of March.
Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5: battery life decreasing after updating to One UI 6.1
Several users have in fact complained about a significant decrease in autonomy after updating their Galaxy Z Fold5 or Z Flip5 to One UI 6.1. Despite the new artificial intelligence features (Galaxy AI), the update also brought several problems to owners of the two foldables.
Samsung has not yet released an official statement on the battery issue, but it is likely that the development teams are already working to find a solution. However, the April update with security patches does not appear to include fixes for this problem.
What to do if you have noticed a decline in autonomy
If after updating to One UI 6.1 you have noticed a decrease in the battery life of your Galaxy Z Fold5 or Z Flip5, here are some tips:
- Check battery usage: Access your battery settings to see which apps consume the most power. Disable apps you don't use frequently or limit their use in the background.
- Reduce screen brightness: The brightness of the display is one of the factors that most affects battery life. Lower the brightness to the minimum level necessary for comfortable viewing.
- Disable unnecessary features: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS can consume a lot of battery if not used. Turn them off when you don't need them.
- Use energy saving mode: Power saving mode can extend battery life by limiting some features.
- Perform a factory reset: If the above tips haven't solved the problem, a factory reset may be a last resort. Attention: This operation will erase all data from your device, so be sure to make a backup before proceeding.
Conclusions
We hope Samsung releases soon a solution for this problem and that future updates improve the overall experience of the two foldables. What do you think of Samsung smartphones?
