The Speedlink RAIT Wireless Gamepad is a controller with a thousand uses and a design that is as classic as it is functional. How does it behave? Let’s find out together
Speedlink, note German company of accessories for consoles and PCs, recently unveiled RAIT Wireless, the new gamepad with a thousand uses compatible with both consoles such as Nintendo Switch and PlayStation both with PC. Let’s find out how this small and cheap technological gem behaves in this review.

Let’s start immediately with the technical features by informing you that this wireless gamepad is equipped with a USB-A receiver to be connected to the device to be controlled. The gamepad is also equipped with lithium ion battery fully rechargeable through the use of the appropriate USB-C port. The Speedlink RAIT Wireless is delivered in one sales packaging in cardboard with an attractive design and whose aesthetics immediately make the product stand out through a series of elegant and functional high definition images. Indeed, the front shows an image of the gamepad and the main technical data. The back and side surfaces show more detailed images and other more specific technical details. Once the box is opened we find a convenient hard plastic compartment that protects both the gamepad and the other accessories. Among these are the USB-A receiver, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable and instructions for use.
The design and shape of the gamepad are strongly reminiscent of the classic Xbox controller mixed with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Among the keys, in fact, the iconic ABXY stand out which in this case are black with the letters in gray. Overall, the controller is rubberized and almost completely black in color. Only the central button stands out, which has a red logo of Gaming Tools, the Speedlink sub-brand that deals with the production of these accessories. The surfaces are matte, while the buttons and digital control pad are glossy. Plastic is the main material used for the chassis of the device, but it is of excellent quality as well as general workmanship. In terms of weight, the controller feels a bit lighter than the Xbox’s, possibly due to the built-in lithium-ion battery.

Connectivity and ease of use | Speedlink RAIT Wireless Review
The connection to the PC, as already mentioned, takes place via the included USB-A wireless receiver. In some cases, however, it is required to download and install the appropriate driver Speedlink owner to take advantage of the vibration function present in some games. In our tests, the connection and installation worked without problems, but for added versatility a connection via Bluetooth would not mind. For example, to connect to the Nintendo Switch you must first connect the USB-A receiver to the appropriate USB port on the dock station. Then the “Wired connection for controller” setting must be activated in the settings in the “Controller and sensors” menu. The gamepad is recognized immediately, but it is not possible to use it in mobile mode. As for PlayStation and PC, the procedure is more immediate, but there is a peculiarity: the company indicates only PlayStation 3, but in the course of our test we tried to use the pad also for PS5 and, net of some limitations especially in the vibration, it worked very well.
The gamepad fits very comfortably in the hand, as is classic with this genre of design. All buttons are quite close together and have a pleasant pressure feedback. Only the two triggers make a slightly scratchy noise. The vibration function works very well and is powerful enough giving great gaming feedback. Another feature not to be underestimated is the rubberized surface that allows you to hold the controller firmly in your hand even during long gaming sessions.
On both PC and console, all key assignments they are immediately recognized correctly by observing how even in this case the pad follows the classic assignment of the Xbox keys. If you don’t like it, you can change the various buttons but only by entering the games settings because, apart from the driver, there is no other configuration software. This is helped by the central button that also lights up red thanks to the functional and bright circular LED band that also acts as a home button (as in Xbox gamepads). This might confuse Nintendo Switch players at least initially because A becomes B and X becomes Y. After a few small moments of confusion, then you won’t even notice.
A gamepad with an excellent quality-price ratio
Overall, therefore, with RAIT Wireless Speedlink delivers a great wireless gamepad. Thanks to a shape that is as classic as it is widely tested, it is held very comfortably in the hand and all the controls have a perfect pressure point, reacting quickly and without ever missing a beat. With the presence of a rubberized surface, it is very handy and even during long gaming sessions no particular problems are noticed. The powerful vibration function is a lot of fun, as it provides powerful feedback from all games that are compatible with the proprietary driver. Finally, the battery life turned out to be very good. Finally, we can say that it is a device with an excellent quality-price ratio.
