Adrian Newey upgrades the RB20 to make it more ferocious

Despite Max Verstappen’s victories in the last two GPs, the champion acknowledged that there are problems in the RB20, which Adrian Newey immediately tried to fix. Improvements on the single-seater that are not at all visible, but which make the difference

Match the previous one RB19 it’s quite difficult, considering that in 2023 Red Bull had won 22 out of 23 races, only the one in Singapore failing. But despite this, that single-seater still had problems on the city tracks, which the reigning champion Max Verstappen he noted. Now, however, there are other problems that need to be resolved RB20, of the problems that technical director Adrian Newey is working hard to fix. As we had already previously anticipated, Christian Horner wants to push Adrian Newey away by distracting him with the RB20, a move that the technical director is also making. Something necessary, to ensure that Red Bull does better than it did in 2023. On the track in Milton Keynes the team highlighted the difficulties of the previous car on high downforce circuits and wanted to make improvements especially on this aspect.

Adrian Newey and the improvements on the RB20

The technical director wanted to talk specifically about the difficulties that the RB19 had last year, underlining that the real obstacles for them were the road circuits with maximum downforce. Precisely for this reason they made sure that the RB20 was a single-seater suitable for any type of circuit. If they had already worked on these problems last season, they probably would have achieved victory in the Singapore race too. But the fact remains that now the improvements they have made are mainly on radiators. The visible parts, which are the ones that have attracted the most attention, are the ones that allow for the greatest aerodynamic improvements. But the most subtle changes that have taken Red Bull a step forward are internal improvementswhich allowed him to obtain greater gains in terms of performance.
