Apple would be working on the new generation of AirPods Pro 2, that could arrive in the fall, out together with the new ones iPhone. Instead it seems that Apple does not want to update the AirPods Maxsimply adding color options.
AirPods Pro 2, scheduled for release in the fall
The news comes from the analyst Mark Gurman Bloomberg, whose Power On newsletter is an institution when it comes to predicting Apple’s future moves. According to the reporter, this fall we should expect the release in new AirPods after three years from the launch of the first generationAnd. Some early buyers may be starting to have battery issues, and Gurman says it’s the perfect time to launch an updated version.
Gurman then explained that we should see new colors for AirPods Max, Apple’s over-the-ear headphones. And the analyst also hopes for a drop in the price, given that “$ 550 is absurd for these headphones“.
This prediction from Gurman aligns with what the Apple analyst said Ming-Chi Kuo, who previously explained that the new Pros would arrive in the second half of 2022. According to rumors, they may have a more compact design, which it would eliminate the ‘stem’ altogether.
Also it looks like they might have one new charging case and support for l’audio lossless with a new protocol.
Instead, no technical news for the AirPods Max, with Apple that would not have updates for the headphones launched in December 2020. And that have had a decidedly less impact in sales (and cultural) than Apple’s in-ear headphones.
