A bad day for all fans of the world of anime and manga, but especially of Dragon Ball: Akira Toriyama, the creator of one of the most famous and loved manga in the world, has died
The world of manga and anime, as well asentire Japanese culture, was struck by a tragic death. Just a week ago, on March 1st, he died Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball. It goes without saying how much impact Dragon Ball has had not only for oriental culture, but also for the whole world madly in love of the world created by the Grand Master. The news of his passing reached us today, directly from his manga production studio, Bird Studio. Toriyama had collaborated on both the manga series and the anime series and his latest work concerns Dragon Ball Daima, which represents a new beginning for the franchise.
Akira Toriyama is dead, but he will always be in our hearts
The mangaka had begun to develop a passion for drawing after seeing the Disney classic 101 Dalmatians, the cult animated film starring the 101 Dalmatians. From that point on, Toriyama continued to follow his dream by attending drawing school Prefectural Industrial High School. This was one of the most prestigious in Tokyo. Soon after he worked for about two years as a poster designer in a company in Nagoya. He resigned to devote himself to manga and began by participating in a competition for amateurs, which he did not win, but in that period he still managed to meet Kazuhiko Torishima. The latter later became his mentor and editor. As time went by he began to draw Dragon Ball, in 1984, creating 519 chapters in 42 volumes. The series was so successful that he was contacted to make an anime series. Many manga artists have been inspired by Dragon Ball to create their stories, an indication of how much impact the master has had on the world. Toriyama turns off at 68 years oldleaving a void for lovers of oriental animation, but still leaving a legacy of the franchise with the latest series, Dragon Ball Daima.
