In these hours they have emerged new details on the cyber attack by Killnet hackers on Italy. The pro-Russian group was rejected by the CSIRT which also received compliments (more or less ironic) from the hackers themselves who invited the government to increase funds and salaries for the Italian cybersecurity team. New details on Killnet’s attack on Italy

L’attack by Killnet on Italy it would have taken place in the late afternoon of 30 maggio last and would go on for several hours (at least 10 hours). According to what was declared by the CSIRT, the attack by Killnet on Italy recorded the use “of most of the techniques described in the bulletin BL01 / 220520 / CSIRT-ITA, with detected peaks of 40 Gbps”. It should be noted that the attempts of pro-Russian hackers were “mitigated by Anti-DDoS systems to protect the portal, without affecting the availability of the website for legitimate users”.

The attack took place on several levels. In a first phase, TCP-SYN, UDP, TCP SYN / ACK Amplification attacks were recorded. Then came IP Fragmentation attacks and volumetric attacks. The systems managed to mitigate the offensive and prevent negative effects on the web services affected by Killnet. The pro-Russian hacker group may now return to the attack in the near future.
