The famous video game by InnerslothIt, among Us, has remained in a down state of servers for well over 48 hours. To cause the disservice was a cyber attack which shorted the connection platform online to the game.

Released in 2018Innersloth’s game, which makes sabotage its main focus, has managed to get all eyes on itself only in the 2020. The global situation, as we all know, has forced many people at home without the possibility of interacting in person. Among Us has enjoyed a renaissance, thanks to its characteristic of being a video game multiplayer cooperatively, and in recent years it has become one of the most downloaded games on smartphones, PCs and consoles.
On the evening of Friday, March 24th, Among Us players began reporting the firsts connection problems to the servers before they became completely inactive due to a DDOS attack. This type of cyber attack, literally denial of service in Italian, indicates a type of malfunction due to a cyber attack. What happens in practice? In a nutshell, it short-circuits the system that regulates the flow of the players inbound on server in this specific case. The access channel is sent haywire and therefore it is impossible for anyone to access it.
The developer team took advantage of the channel Twitter to keep gamers updated on the state of the disservice, having fun entertaining users with funny jokes to play down.
These types of cyber attacks are not uncommon. Indeed, they continue to pose a major problem for large-scale video game companies and networks. In 2014for example, there was a massive DDOS attack involving both networks at the time PSN of Sony Playstation that Xbox Live from Microsoft. This type of disservice is difficult to predict and stop, especially in a historical period where more and more video games rely on the online network.
