A few hours after the release of the app ChatGPT per iPhone, Apple has banned the use of AI for its employees. The chatbot, which has become popular all over the world for its conversational and generative capabilities, is particularly appreciated by employees of tech companies (and not only), who use it to get rid of their workload.
Apple, however, doesn’t want its employees to use such tools. In an internal memo, the company said that generative AIs are strictly prohibited in the workplace. The ban, therefore, also extends to other artificial intelligences, such as Bing Chat and Co-Pilot (from Microsoft), Google Bard and the like.

The concerns of the giant of the bitten big apple don’t seem to be too different from those that have already affected Samsung. The Korean company, last month, suffered a leak of sensitive information due to some employees who had entered company information on ChatGPT.
Artificial intelligence models, it should be remembered, they learn from the information provided to them. This means that the data entered ends up in the vast database that feeds the AI. Data that often, in the case of tech giants, they include confidential information for the company’s competitiveness on the market.
Will Apple develop its own AI chatbot?
Samsung, after banning ChatGPT and other chatbots, is remedying the problem by creating its own internal AI reserved for employees only. This means that employees will be able to continue to use AI to carry out their work, without the information entered being able to leak.
Apple, for its part, has been decidedly more rigid: no AI at work. However, it is not to be excluded that Cupertino decides to adopt solutions similar to those of Samsung in the future. After all, given the current scenario, AI seems to be an essential solution in terms of competitiveness in the tech market.
