According to a new leak, Apple’s upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with mini-LED displays will have the same performance, while only the diagonal of the display will change. In fact, both devices should make use of the M1X chip, which would guarantee them the exact same speed. This choice, if true, would run counter to Apple’s usual strategy of supplying its larger machines with more powerful chips.
Apple: MacBook Pro 14 and 16 will have the same chip?
According to the insider Dylandkt su Twitter, both the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro will have the same chip and performance. In a second tweet, it is made clear by the user that both models should use the same M1X chip.
While Apple typically includes a more powerful GPU in its larger MacBook Pro variants, the lack of a second GPU in Mac M1 versions, as well as the lack of eGPU support for systems.i Apple Silicon, suggests that Apple won’t include any better chip types in 2021 releases.
It’s comforting to note that both MacBook Pro’s that are coming this fall will have the same chip and the same performance. It’s definitely a win for those who like to opt for the smaller size but expect a notable increase in price for the 14 inch over the 13 inch.

Having similar performance, the only real difference between the models is likely to be the physical dimension, although this factor could affect the purchase price a cost. In this regard, the leaker warns potential buyers to expect a significant price increase for the 14-inch compared to the 13.
Both versions of the MacBook Pro should include eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores, for a total of ten cores. Other rumors also indicate that it could even have 12 cores. The difference between the two will relate to the number of graphics core, which will be from 16 or 32.
The chips also include up to 64GB of RAM against a maximum of 16 on the M1 chip. In addition, there will be an improved neural engine, capable of processing machine learning activities and allowing the addition of more Thunderbolt ports. The latter will allow users to synchronize data and connect to external devices.
