After a long wait, Apple has finally officially presented the new one iPhone SE 3, an inexpensive smartphone with an iconic design and high performance. A perfect combination for those who do not want to give up the functions offered by Apple devices, but without spending too much money. Like the top of the range of the company, in fact, this model arrives on the market with the powerful chip A15 Bionicthe 5G connectivity and a significantly improved camera system. These are the features announced by Apple for its mid-range smartphone, available for the pre-order from Friday 11 March. To have it on the market, however, we should wait until next March 18th. In the meantime, however, let’s find out what the new third-generation iPhone SE will really look like.
iPhone SE 3: all specifications announced by Apple
Design
The design of the new iPhone SE 3 was much discussed before the keynote on March 8th. The inexpensive smartphone from Apple, in fact, has ended up in the crosshairs of industry experts several times due to its extremely traditional shape, in all respects similar to that of the iPhone 8. But despite the company has confirmed the design, the Yesterday’s announcement added some interesting details about the aesthetics of Apple’s new phone. This will reportedly come to market with a aerospace aluminum design and glassthe same used for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. As a result, the smartphone proves itself resistant to both dust and water. But this is not the most interesting detail. The new budget iPhone will have a 4.7 inch displaywith the traditional Home button with Touch ID, which will allow you to access the Apps, perform transactions with Apple Pay and much more. And it will be available in midnight, galaxy and (PRODUCT) RED colors. And in the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB variants.
Technical specifications
Among the most striking technical features of the new iPhone SE 3 there is undoubtedly the chip A15 Bionic, the same one with which Apple has equipped the iPhone 13, so far the top of the range of production. A detail that greatly improves the performance of the smartphone, especially in terms of speed. The processor, in fact, has the CPU 6-core “With two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores”. Beyond this, the A15 Bionic chip takes advantage of the chemical composition of the battery and integration with iOS 15 to ensure greater autonomy for the user. In short, the processor ensures the performance of the iPhone 13 on a decidedly more convenient smartphone. Indeed, if we add to this the 5G connectivityit is clear that the result is a highly performing device.
Thanks to the new operating system, in fact, it will be possible to access new shared experiences thanks to SharePlay in 5G, such as watching a TV series during a Face Time call. In addition, intelligent data consumption saves battery by automatically switching to LTE networks when 5G speed is not needed. As reported by Kaiann Drance, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing: “With 5G, iPhone SE enables faster downloads and uploads, higher quality video streaming, real-time interactivity in apps and more.” In short, the performance guaranteed by Apple’s new inexpensive smartphone is of a high level. And that makes it far better than the previous generation of iPhone SE.
Camera
New photographic equipment for the iPhone SE 3, which features a 12MP wide angle and ƒ / 1.8 aperture with computational photography features, including Smart HDR 4, Photo Styles, Deep Fusion and Portrait mode. Introduced with the new iPhone 13, “Smart HDR 4 takes advantage of intelligent segmentation to apply the right adjustments of color, contrast and digital noise to the background on subjects“. This ensures correct exposure of faces even when the lighting conditions are not exactly optimal. Conversely, the Photographic styles allow users to apply their photographic preferences to each image, while continuing to benefit from Apple’s multi-frame processing. This way, custom presets and preferences can be applied to captured images. Deep FusionInstead, it allows for great long texture enhancement and digital noise in every part of the photo. Finally, the ISP processor of the A15 Bionic chip also significantly improves videos.
iPhone SE 3 vs iPhone SE 2: two models compared
As you can see for yourself, the differences between the third generation iPhone SE and the second generation are by no means few. Starting with selling price, eg. The new model, in fact, is much more expensive, with the 64GB variant on sale starting from 529 €, that is a hundred euros more than the 2020 model. The colors in which the smartphone is proposed remain unchanged: black, red and white, even if they now have more appealing names for users – such as “midnight”, eg -. But we certainly can’t say the same for the chip equipment. The iPhone SE of 2020 had the A13 Bionic chip, which is the same as the iPhone 11, while the current model features the A15 Bionic chip, capable of ensuring a processing power of 15.8 trillion operations per second.
The other big difference is that the chip ensuresaccess to all features of iOS 15, including advanced camera modes and Live Text. An option completely absent in the past. What does not change, however, is the endowment of the Retina HD display with 1334 x 750 Pixel resolution. As well as that of one 7 MP selfie camera and a 12MP quadrangular rear sensor (aperture f / 1.8) with LED flash. Finally, another – albeit subtle – difference can be found in battery life: 13 hours for the iPhone SE 2 and 15 ore for the iPhone SE 3. In short, is it more performing? Absolutely yes.
