As Seattle’s King 5 News reports, the robbers forced entry to the Seattle Coffee Gearthey went to the bathroom and practiced a hole in the wall to access the back of the Apple Store. And thus steal half a million dollars in iPhones.

The robbers managed to evade the Apple Store alarm system by using the cafeteria as a gateway, taking away 436 iPhones worth an estimated $500,000.
Eric Marksresponsible of Seattle Coffee Gear, stated that the coffee shop does not appear to be adjacent to the Apple Store due to the layout of the store. “I never imagined we were anywhere near the Apple Store, I mean how it winds down,” Marks explained to King 5 News. “So, someone must have studied it well and knew the floor plan of the mall.”
Police have acquired security camera footage of the robbery, but have not yet released it as part of an ongoing investigation. Nothing was stolen from the café, but the cost to change the locks and restore the bathroom wall will be $1,500. More or less an iPhone 14 Pro Max.
No employees were present at the Apple Store at the time of the robbery because Alderwood Mall was closed overnight. An Alderwood representative said they are working with law enforcement to clarify the incident, but Apple has not yet released any statement.
