While we wait for the much talked about viewer Apple of mixed reality is revealed, it seems that Samsung is taking another approach for a future product that is all about holograms. In the past few hours, some news has emerged regarding the Apple VR viewer that should be equipped with display Micro OLEDin such a way as to be performing both in terms of augmented and virtual reality.
Apple: will the VR headset have a Micro OLED display?
At this point we must necessarily point out that the headset that Apple is allegedly producing is still totally wrapped in mysterygiven that the company has not shared much information about it so far, so the information we have is almost entirely the result of rumors and speculations. However, many analysts agree that it will be a mixed reality viewer.
According to Korea IT: “Apple VR devices will be equipped with OLED (Micro Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays. Apple has partnered with Taiwan’s TSMC to develop OLED displays for VR devices. Micro OLED displays do not require color filters as OLEDs deposit directly on the chip wafer. Micro OLED is smaller, thinner and more efficient. The processor of the VR headset application (AP) will be applied with the M1 chip, which is the system-on-chip developed by Apple, and the operating system (OS) will run iOS ”.
The coolest part of it all is that too Samsung seems intent on releasing a VR headset in the near future:
“Samsung will introduce an AR device, which has applied ‘hologram’ technology. A hologram is a technology that appears as a living image as if an object really existed, but not physically. Samsung Electronics has been preparing for a long time to commercialize hologram technology with Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology ”.
In short, the future looks bright for this field of technology.
