Insider Jeff Grubb revealed how PlayStation’s anti-Game Pass, dubbed Project Spartacus, could be close to release

Project Spartacus, the project Sony would be working on to somehow remedy Microsoft’s stiff competition with its Game Pass, has been the subject of numerous rumors in recent months. The users had learned of this upcoming service thanks to a Bloomberg report, which reported how Sony was trying to combine the PlayStation Plus and the PlayStation Now to offer something very similar to what it currently is the Nintendo Switch Online. Bloomberg had also revealed how the launch of the service was planned for the spring of 2022, and therefore we should by now be quite close to a possible revelation. Further evidence of the existence of this service had been put forward through the removal of PS Now cards in stores in the UK and previously in North America. In the past few hours, moreover, the insider Jeff Grubb has revealed further details on Project Spartacus, also stating how the release of this PlayStation-branded Game Pass was approaching.

Jeff Grubb made these statements during his Giantbomb show called Grubbsnax, which was later transcribed on the Video Games Chronicles website. Apparently, he would have managed to get it new information on the ongoing service Sony, and revealed some of the key points that will characterize it. He himself revealed how Project Spartacus was close to launch, and that perhaps something could have happened towards the end of this month; that said, he doesn’t mean something strictly visible to the public, but more some kind of internal development. Grubb also hinted at how Project Spartacus will be structured upon its release by splitting in three different tier for PlayStation users, each with a different access price.

These tiers would be called “Essential”, “Extra” e “Premium”, and each would have a different cost depending on the services offered.
