Audi gave a preview of the restyling of the S3, which will be officially unveiled in the second quarter of 2024. Let’s see the technical innovations of the new model
The German car manufacturer has revealed some of the technical innovations of the new model Audi S3 to highlight the improvements in driving pleasure. Furthermore, some images of the sports car have been shared, although still present in a particular livery that tries to hide the changes to the design. The 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine it has been further refined to achieve more power and torque. Now the engine delivers 333 CV e 420 Nm of torquean increase in 23 CV by 20 Nm compared to the previous model. In terms of performance, the new Audi S3 will be able to accelerate 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). The manufacturer has introduced a new turbocharger with improved management of the preload of the wastegate actuators. This allows a significant overboost effect when maximum performance is required, while maintaining a constant turbine at partial loads and at constant speed, improving the progressiveness of the delivery. The engine is paired with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, improved for even quicker gear transitions. Audi says that Full load shifting times are reduced by 50%.
Audi S3: improved structure after the restyling
The new Audi S3 maintains the quattro all-wheel drive and uses technology torque splitter, which distributes torque between the rear wheels in an active and fully variable manner. This solution improves the dynamism of the vehicle, distributing the torque between the rear wheels when cornering to avoid understeer and encourage oversteer. In a straight line, torque is sent to both rear wheels. Driving dynamics control Audi drive select includes the program dynamic plus, which directs as much torque as possible to the rear axle to encourage oversteering behavior. Furthermore, the selective management of the torque on the individual wheels intervenes by slightly braking the wheels inside the trajectory to transfer the thrust to the wheels with better adhesion.
As for the set-up, the suspensions they include a McPherson type front axle with new bearings that allow double the negative camber compared to the past, close to 1.5 degrees. Progressive steering with variable gear ratio and power assistance is standard, with a revised calibration to make it more direct. The braking system of the new one Audi S3 include front self-ventilating discs with larger diameter (357 mm) and thickness (+4 mm). Furthermore, two new high performance tires from Falken are making their debut in size 235/35 R19.
