August 2021 is almost upon us and in the height of summer, several new video games will arrive to help us forget the heat with hours and hours of fun. While this August is by no means the hottest month of the year in terms of releases, we have some very noteworthy new arrivals, let’s find out in detail what awaits us.
All video games coming in August 2021
2 agosto – Grime
The first date of the month is with Grime, a new metroidvania developed by the guys at Clover Bite. The game will see us take on the role of a hero with a face made up simply of a black hole, whose task will be to avert a multidimensional catastrophe that threatens to collapse the whole of reality.
The game promises a progression system of RPG and mechanics inspired by the soulslike genre, which should guarantee a certain freedom to the player on how to build his character and how to evolve his skills over the course of the adventure.
Grime is out on August 2nd on PC and Google Stadia.
August 3 – Hearthstone United in Roccavento
Let’s move on just one day to welcome the new Hearthstone expansion, entitled United in Stormwind. This additional content will introduce 135 new cards and the new trading skill, which will allow players to exchange a card with this skill for any of their deck, which will lead to a stratification of the meta game, in all likelihood.
A new series of missions will also be introduced and phase 2 of the Year of the Griffin will officially open, which should bring in game changes to the Battle mode and constant updates regarding Duels, Brawls and the single player sector.
12 agosto – Naraka Bladepoint
On August 12, Naraka Bladepoint will arrive, an action video game strongly focused on the online multiplayer sector. The title has already had several free betas particularly appreciated by users and which have reached significant peaks of activity, but finally the date of its definitive release is approaching.
Strongly inspired by Chinese mythology, Nararka Bladepoint for the moment will only arrive on PC, but the console version is expected to arrive in the coming months, to the point that there is already talk of a hypothetical PS5 version. In terms of gameplay, the game offers a wide range of playable characters, each with their own characteristics and skills that you will need to learn how to make the most of to emerge victorious from the clashes.
12 agosto – Foreclosed
A particularly interesting August release is Foreclosed, a cyberpunk-tinged video game coming to PC and console. The title stands out for a truly unusual aesthetic sector, which strongly refers to the comic book imagination and which makes the gameplay a sort of interactive comic.
As for gameplay, the game seems to be an effective mix between the RPG and the graphic novel, all with a completely free and customizable character development system. Foreclosed will arrive on August 12 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.
August 12 – SkateBird
We are still a moment until August 12 for the release of SkateBird, in which we will control a flock of sparrows with a passion for skateboarding. Yes, you got it right. As our ambitious little bird we will explore parks, tracks and streets, to become the best skater bird ever. The gameplay also seems to be pretty deep, with lots of tricks and evolutions to learn.
SkateBird on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and in backward compatibility on Xbox Series X / S from the next August 12.
August 13 – Hades
Already available for some time on PC and Nintendo Switch, the highly acclaimed Hades is about to make its debut on your PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 e Xbox One. The game, which is configured as a modern roguelike, will also be free for all Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
On Sony and Microsoft consoles, the game will boast significantly improved performance, specifically Hades will run in 4K resolution at 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, while on PS4 and Xbox One we have 1080p at 60fps. In short, if this game was on your radar, you have no more excuses not to buy it.
17 agosto – Humankind
On August 17th it will be the turn of Humankind, a new turn-based strategy title focused on building your own civilization. The game was recently in beta and is now ready for an official launch on PC and Google Stadia. The game implements diplomacy, religion and politics mechanics and promises to be a really fun and unusual title for the canons of the genre.
In fact, Humankind will allow you to create your own civilization starting from 10 basic cultures, which will then be amalgamated with each other without creating internal conflicts. A very current opening with great potential.
August 19 – 12 Minutes
It will become available in August 12 Minutes, a promising indie action video game from an isometric perspective. In the game we will be dealing with a time loop, starring a married couple struggling with a quiet evening. At least apparently, given that the scene is abruptly interrupted by a policeman who accuses one of the two parties of murder and starts the loop.
The characters are based and played by real actors of the caliber of James McAvoy, Willem Dafoe e Daisy Ridley. The game will be released on August 19, 2021 on PC and exclusively for Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
August 19 – Recompile
Among the video games arriving in August 2021 we also find Recompile, another metroidvania adventure developed by Phigames and produced by Dear Villagers. The game will come out on on PC, PS5 e Xbox Series X/S and the incipit is at least bizarre. In fact, in the title we will play the role of a program that, having acquired self-awareness, tries to escape from the mainframe in which it is confined.
At the core of the combat system are our digital protagonist’s hacking skills and various attack techniques, which are likely to creatively exploit the ethereal nature of the program.
19 agosto – RiMS Racing
Also on 19 August it will hit the shelves too RiMS Racing, the motorcycle racing simulation game developed by RaceWard Studio, an Italian software house founded and directed by Marco Ponte. The title offers features that will delight all motorcycle enthusiasts and that will allow them to create their own racing car component by component in every single detail.
Of course, vehicle driving also aims to restore a sense of realism that is unique in its kind, with many mechanics that will come into play depending on the track and the weather conditions of the case. RiMS Racing will come up PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series X/S.
20 agosto – Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
Do not miss the appeal too Ghost of Tsushima, that comes back in Director’s Cut Edition exclusively for Ps4 and Ps5. This new version of the game includes the island of Iki, a new open world area that unlocks in conjunction with chapter 2 and which will offer a new narrative line for all players who decide to explore it. On the atoll we will be able to obtain new equipment for Jin and test him against enemies never seen before.
The publication of the Director’s Cut also comes with a patch that adds new content to the base game, such as the ability to engage enemies in combat, a lack complained by many at the time of the official release.
24 agosto – Aliens Fireteam Elite
Aliens Fireteam is a cooperative shooter that will test us against Xenomorfi most famous of the big screen. The title is developed by Cold Iron Studios and will feature Colonial Marines facing the growing threat of Xenomorphs in a series of objective-based online activities. The game will come up PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 e Xbox Series X/S.
24 agosto – King’s Bounty 2
It will also arrive in August 2021 King’s Bounty 2, the second title in the turn-based role-playing video game series. The first title of the saga dates back to 1990 and after more than thirty years it is finally about to receive a sequel. the game will come for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch e PC.
24 august -Hoa
Developed by Skrollcat Studio, flower is an adventure with puzzle mechanics characterized by atmospheres that closely resemble those proposed by the Ghibli studio. In the game we will play the role of a nice goblin and we will be able to live his journey on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One e Series X|S e PlayStation 4 e 5.
August 24 – Lone Echo 2
We continue our roundup of video games arriving in August 2021 with Lone Echo 2, a virtual reality title that will only be published on Oculus Rift.
In Lone Echo 2, we will once again play as Jack, protagonist of the first chapter, and we will live an adventure alongside Liv. The sequel carries all the innovative features of its predecessor, including zero-gravity controls and a highly emotional story. In addition, we will have a new assortment of tools to overcome complex challenges and make surprising discoveries in deep space in the distant future.
24 agosto – Kena: Bridge of Spirits
