Automotive innovation at CES 2024 with the new platform from LG and Magna

During the 2024 edition of Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will begin in a few days in Las Vegas, LG Electronics organized an exclusive demonstration for automotive industry leaders.

The event will feature a revolutionary platform that merges the advanced driver assistance technologies (ADAS), automated driving (AD) e entertainment on board (IVI). This platform, the result of the collaboration between LG and Magnapromises to revolutionize the automotive industry in the near future.

“We are extremely pleased with the progress made on this technology for future mobility,” he said Eun Seok-hyun, presidente di LG Vehicle component Solutions Company. “LG and Magna’s joint efforts will help advance the industry by facilitating the rapid adoption of critical technologies that improve driving safety and the on-road experience.”

The fruits of the partnership between LG and Magna will be shown at CES 2024

The partnership between LG and Magna, launched in 2023, aims to improve the driving experience through innovative in-vehicle services. The two companies have integrated a vehicle computer system in a single system chip (SoC), offering a versatile and cost-effective solution for manufacturers.

The unified electronic module supports multiple IVI systems and ADAS/AD domain integration. It is designed for effectively meet automotive safety integrity levels (ASIL) with fewer electronic control units and smaller dimensions. This modular solution is perfect fortransition to software-defined vehicles (Software-Defined Vehicle, SDV) and for the optimization of the electrical/electronic architecture.

Thanks to a dedicated human-machine interface (HMI), the LG platform offers renewed driving experiences and intuitive interactions. Drivers and passengers can enjoy cutting-edge displays, digital dashboards, AR-HUD displays (Augmented Reality-Head Up Display) and customizable visualization software. These features are designed to fit each OEM’s specific IVI system and communications needs.

2027 vehicles are expected to be the first to benefit from these advanced technologies.
