The bad news for fans of the Marvel world doesn’t end here: after the dismissal of Jonathan Majors by the Marvel Studios (here you can find the history of Marvel Studios), another update arrives that will not make MCU fans happy at all. According to a rumor, in fact, it seems that the fans they may wait longer than expected to be able to see the fifth film dedicated to the Avengers team. The voice comes directly from Alex Perezthe writer of The Cosmic Circuswho published a post on X (the former Twitter) where he talks about Avengers 5, writing the exact words:
Be warned, Avengers 5 is NOT coming out in 2026. There’s still a lot of work to take care of and too much to set up before we can dive deep into the next Avengers movie.
The release of Avengers 5 postponed: is it Jonathan Majors’ fault?
This phrase said by Alex Perex, in reality, it has been neither confirmed nor denied from Disney and Marvel. So, for the moment, we must take this statement with a grain of salt, because they have not yet officially announced any postponement of Avengers 5. In the meantime, rumors are spreading on social media and fans are genuinely concerned on the fate of the fifth film of the world’s most beloved team of heroes, which they sincerely hope not to see postponed again. The film has already lost its subtitle: The Kang Dynasty, after the firing of actor Jonathan Majors following accusations of abuse and violence, later confirmed, against his ex-girlfriend. Even before that, the film even lost its director Destin Daniel Crettonwho, although he abandoned the project, will continue to work with Marvel Studios.
Who is to blame for all this? By Jonathan Majors? Not exactly. Or rather, his case has certainly changed Marvel’s plans, even if they are aiming more at a remake of Kang’s character. However, things are more complicated than that: there are still some films that need to be released first, such as Thor 5, Spider-Man 4, I Fantastici 4, Doctor Strange 3 and other films that should prepare the ground for Avengers 5. At the moment, as we can well imagine due to all these problems, the film still does not have a release date. We’ll have to wait for the next few months to hear what Marvel Studios has to tell us.
