Concept art for a Batman Beyond movie pitch from some of the artists working on the Spider-Verse films has been revealed
A tweet from the visual development artist of Spider-Verse Yuhki Demers revealed that he and the director of My Dad the Bounty Hunter, Patrick Harpinthey presented a pitch for a film project to Warner Bros. and DC Comics five months ago Batman Beyond. Demers wrote on X:
Before we submitted the proposal, they warned us ‘There’s absolutely no way we can make a Beyond movie,’ but they appreciated our enthusiasm. We outlined the outline of the entire film and what started as a ‘never’ turned into a ‘maybe’. Since then, we’ve worked our way up the company hoping to get to James Gunn, but for now, here’s a taste of what we’ve got lined up.
The three pieces of concept art show a heroic plan of Terry McGinnis in front of Gotham’s cyberpunk skyline, walking down a neon-lit alley, and being chased through traffic by the shape-shifting villain, Inque.
Batman Beyond: the film between past and future
Plans for a film live-action Of Batman Beyond they were put on hiatus after James Gunn and Peter Safran’s restructuring of the DC cinematic universe. It was rumored that the film, written by Flash and Batgirl screenwriter Christina Hodson, was considering involving Michael Keaton in reprising the role of Bruce Wayne. At the end of his tweet, Demers encouraged his followers to publicly support the proposal to get a meeting with James Gunn and greenlight a Batman Beyond animated film by sharing and liking his tweet.
Batman Beyond initially aired in 1999, set in 2019, following Terry McGinnis as the new Batman under the leadership of a retired Bruce Wayne. The series lasted three seasons before ending in 2001. It also had a direct-to-DVD movie, “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker”and 3D game for Nintendo 64 in 2000 and numerous comic series.
