Not the subtitle, but the year of release: 2025 could mark the return of gaming to the world of the living for Battlefield
We would say “he who doesn’t die sees himself again”, but what happened in 2020 with Battlefield 2042 would have led us to think about anything except the possibility of seeing a chapter of the series in 2025. The publisher Electronic Arts had to significantly reevaluate the first-person shooter series, then adopt a business model that requires multiple development teams. In other words, therefore, the same that we are seeing in the last period with the various Call of Duty games. Details on the future of EA’s former potential golden goose are scarce, but Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming shed light on some details. Specifically, we may not just have a release year on our hands, but even the month.

The autumn of Electronic Arts: are the falling leaves of 2025 turned crimson with the lead of Battlefield?
According to the report, as you can see from the tweet above, the next Battlefield is aiming for a launch in the month of October 2025. Internally, it’s called a “back to basics” for the series. As such, the game will feature 64-player multiplayer battles, while returning to the four-class system of previous titles. The destruction mechanics will also be improved, at least according to the job offers in this regard. The game is rumored to be set between next year and 2030, with “a strong narrative emphasis on the use of modern technology in warfare.” What this means for the campaign in the making at Ridgeline Games, then, remains to be seen. In this sense, the resignation of director Marcus Lehto does not help. Henderson claims that the next chapter will be accompanied by a free-to-play battle royale by Ripple Effect Studios.
Now it’s up to you to tell us your opinion: how reliable will Henderson be this time?
