The Bridgerton showrunner decided to explain why it was decided to skip Benedict’s story and, therefore, move directly to the story of Colin and Penelope
With the announcement of the third season of Bridgerton, the public was convinced that the line of the novels would continue to be followedso everyone was expecting the small screen adaptation of the third novel in the Julia Quinn saga, A Gentleman’s Proposal, or Benedict’s story. In fact, the first two seasons of the series followed exactly the same order as the books on which the series is inspired. The first chapter told the story of Daphne and the second instead focused on the story involving Viscount Anthony. By continuing to follow this method, the third season of Bridgerton was supposed to revolve around Benedict, the second of the brothers in the family, however it was decided to do differently. As we well know, in fact, i protagonists of the third season of the series will be Penelope and Colin. Therefore the next season of Bridgerton will be the adaptation of the fourth novel in the series, A Man to Conquer.
The showrunner explains why it was decided to skip the chapter dedicated to Benedict
Everyone is wondering why they chose to skip Benedict’s story for the third season of Bridgerton. Jess Bromnell, showrunner of the series, decided to answer this question:
We spent two seasons getting to know Pen and Colin well. We witnessed Pen’s crush and saw how oblivious Colin is to it. This dynamic can only be explored for a certain period before something has to change. This really seemed like the right time to delve deeper into what has been prepared for them.
But that doesn’t mean Benedict won’t have his season sooner or later, in fact Bromnell then added:
He’s such a fun character and a fan favorite, who we’re really excited to play with him for a while and let him have some fun before settling down.
Obviously, in addition to Colin and Penelope, there will still be space to delve into the history of the other Bridgerton brothers, including poor Benedict.
