The Bridgestone plant reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 94%
The Bridgestone plant in Pune produces over 4 million tires per year. Over the years, the factory has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 94%, thanks to a series of measures. These include, for example, the use of solar panels and the creation of a zero-emission biomass boiler system. This uses a fuel block made from agricultural waste, both of which are installed at the plant.
The plant’s 2,974 tonnes of CO2 emissions are offset by Bridgestone India’s purchase of credits Verified Carbon Standard. They are derived from a solar photovoltaic project in Acme, India. The project was designed to generate energy from solar panels that will be exported to India’s regional power grids Telangana, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
