Two-time Emmy-winning actor Andre Braugher died on Monday after a brief illness: this is the memory of his colleagues on Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Hollywood and the TV series audience mourn the death, at just 61 years old, ofEmmy winning actor Andre Braugher, whose illustrious television career included roles in the extraordinary ’90s crime drama Homicide and the more recent crime comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Originally from Chicago, after studying at the Juilliard School in New York, Andre Braugher made his debut on the small screen in the late 1980s with the role of the detective Winston Blake in a pilot of the film tv the Kojak. In the same year she also acted for the first time on the big screen, in the Oscar-winning film Glory. His breakthrough role came shortly after, in 1993. In Homicide, one of the biggest hits on American TV, Braugher played the detective Frank Pembleton, an interrogation specialist, character inspired by the eccentric African-American Baltimore Police Department detective Harry Edgerton. In the last decade he has been appreciated since 2013 in the second most important role of his career: the stoic Captain Raymond Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, alongside Andy Samberg. In the eight seasons of the comedy, Braugher scored four more Emmy nominations for best supporting actor.

I can’t believe you left so soon. I am honored to have met you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 amazing years observing your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You taught me so much. I will always be grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship. Deepest condolences to your wife and family at this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like.
The official Brooklyn Nine-Nine account instead published a photo of him smiling, accompanied by the simple words “Forever our captain. We love you, Andre“, with which we can only associate ourselves.
