Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: according to a rumor the DMZ mode is not free-to-play

The DMZ mode planned for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 may not follow the business model we thought, according to a rumor

The new single-player campaign mode and a revised and corrected multiplayer will not be the only new features of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2hey rumor they just remind us of a protagonist known by the name of DMZ. With an acronym for a demilitarized zone, this unreleased mode offers gameplay PvEvP as seen in Escape from Tarkov. Recent rumors hinted at a free-to-play strategy with an accompanying launch in 2023, but that may not be the case. To refute the thesis is Tom Henderson (who else?), known insider.

The thousand rumors about the new mode of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: Tom Henderson speaks

In a new report for TryHardGuides, Henderson has refuted the insistence of rumors about the free-to-play nature of DMZ, a new mode for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The insider claims that it is “another mode” and therefore, not an experience in its own right. What stands out is Henderson’s statement about a mode that will receive updates in the future, without being “as hardcore” as Tarkov. You can find below the tweet with which the insider reminds us of his latest report, if you want to deepen the discussion further.

In the article, Henderson also repeated the reuse of “pretty much” the entire map of Warzone 2.0. Furthermore, according to the insider’s source, Activision is still intent on launching the next three Call of Duty (also) on PlayStation. In other words, any exponent of the franchise from the next title to the Treyarch chapter scheduled for 2024 could be contractually linked to the games available and, in part, to those not yet released. The only exception is the mobile version of Warzone, so it will be interesting to find out if in that case Xbox will be pushing for the necessary promotions. For now, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is expected on October 28 su Xbox One/Series X/S, PS4, PS5 e PC.
