Call of Duty: Phil Spencer says the series will remain on PlayStation

Phil Spencer answers the doubts of players, who are wondering if Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation after the recent acquisition.

They are coming out a lot of information and important details about the very recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard from Microsoft. In the past few hours, there has been a lot of talk about what could happen in the future to the numerous titles of the huge videogame house, assuming a rather probable arrival of exclusives for the Xbox Game Pass. However Phil Spencer, appointed just a few hours ago as CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has already tried to reassure the use of external platforms to those owned by Microsoft, arguing that the company does not intend to alienate communities from them.

But doubts regarding the fate of important Activision Blizzard titles do not seem to diminish, even after Sony itself has responded to the events that have occurred, saying to expect compliance with the contractual agreements that the software house has with Sony. And here then, in the last hours, Phil Spencer returns again to make other statements, referring to those who wonder if Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation.

Phil Spencer says Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation

The speculations towards the possible gestures that Microsoft and Activision Blizzard could implement are numerous, however many of them remain in general only rumors and assumptions, of which many have not yet received any confirmation or denial. We know for sure, at least through Activision Blizzard’s responses, that the titles already existing on the various platforms will not be removed, but it remains to be seen what will happen instead to the titles that have not yet been revealed or that will be developed in the future. Now, a further clarification is also given by Phil Spencer, who speaks in a tweet about a recent conversation he had with some Sony exponents.

In the tweet in question, published on Thursday 20 January, Phil Spencer states how Microsoft cares about the relationship with Sony, and that after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation. He reveals that he spoke to Sony’s bosses in a phone call, and that he confirmed his intent to honor all the agreements currently existing between Activision Blizzard and the Japanese company. These statements could therefore indicate a management similar to that which already occurs with Minecraft after Mojang joined the Xbox studio ranks, or even as with The Elder Scrolls Online following the acquisition of Zenimax. And yet, while Spencer confirms the permanence of the most played shooter franchise ever, fears about the possibility of not seeing the other IPs belonging to Activision Blizzard have not yet been dispelled.
