The Cannes Film Festival hasn’t started yet, but it’s already making itself heard, in fact the Palme d’Or has been announced for Michael Douglas
Everything is almost ready for a new edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which this year has already reached its 76th edition. The demonstration, which will kick off Tuesday 16, until Saturday 27 May, will open its doors celebrating the extraordinary career of Michael Douglas. The American actor and film producer will receive the Golden palm of honor right at the beginning of the film festival. Here are his words.

At the news of the recognition, Michael Douglas commented on his participation in the Festival with joy, focusing on how important the event is to keep cinema alive. Indeed, he stated:
After more than 50 years of activity, it is a pride to return to the Croisette to open the Festival and embrace this global cinematic language. […] Cannes is always a breath of fresh air, a wonderful place to welcome creators, bold artists and beautiful stories. Since 1979 the Festival has always reminded me that the magic of cinema lies not only in what we see on the screen, but also in its ability to move people around the world.
A successful career
The award to Michael Douglas is fully deserved; in fact, during his career he managed to take home 2 Oscar: as Best Picture for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1976) and Best Actor for Wall Street (1987). To these add up 4 Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award, un Emmy, as well as many other awards. We therefore look forward to seeing him in Cannes. Meanwhile, all the films in the competition have been announced and, just a few hours ago, all the members of the jury, who will join Ruben Östlund, President. Alongside him we will see the directors Maryam Touzani, Julia Ducournau, The actors Paul Dano, Brie Larson, Denis Ménochet, the author Atiq Rahimi and the screenwriters The Story of the Bird e Damian Szifrón. We just have to wait for Tuesday 16 May, when it all begins.
