Ethan Coen will return to directing with the comedy Honey Don’t! The first names of the interpreters are those of Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley
Having stepped down from his tight-fitting role as Captain America, Chris Evans will be the star of Ethan Coen’s next film. The comedy will be the director’s second work without the contribution of his brother Joel. Ethan Coen in fact made his directorial debut as a soloist (that is, without his inseparable brother Joel) in Drive-Away Dolls. In the last few hours we have learned that the author already has another film in the works: a black comedy. The title is Honey Don’t! and he will see Chris Evans in the protagonist role. Let’s summarize everything we know about the feature film.
The screenplay will bear the signature of Tricia Cooke, Coen’s wife and co-screenwriter of his aforementioned first film. The film represents the second chapter of a trilogy of comedies, therefore it ideally comes after Drive-Away Dolls. It is no coincidence that the protagonist of the latter will return to the cast, Margaret Qualley. Also present Aubrey Plaza. The comedy will be set in Bakersfield, California, and the MCU star will play the leader of a cult, while Margaret Qualley will be a private investigator. Honey Don’t should officially go into production in New Mexico at the end of March, so as to arrive in theaters in 2025.

As for Drive-Away Dolls, Focus Features has set the release date to February 23. In addition to Qualley (currently also in theaters with Poor Creatures!), the cast boasts the presence of Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Peter PascalBill Camp e Matt Damon.
What will become of the thirty-year partnership between the Coen brothers? The last film they directed together, La Ballad of Buster Scruggs, dates back to 2018. From there a separation which, however, is neither irremediable nor definitive. Ethan himself has clarified, in the past, that nothing serious happened between him and his brother. Simply, after thirty years, both feel the need to stand on their own two feet and feel free to experiment independently. Maybe the reunion will be closer when Ethan Coen has completed the trilogy of comedies which was mentioned above.
