In February, Bungie, developer of Destiny 2, promised to donate all proceeds raised during the first 48 hours of its Game2Give campaign to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Today he detailed the results of that effort: $ 120,000 raised for Direct Relief and the International Rescue Committee. At the same time Bungie has also decided to block Destiny 2 sales in Russia.
Bungie stops sales of Destiny 2 in Russia
Since Destiny 2 is a free to play game, Bungie has specified that those who already own the title will be able to continue playing it, but it will not be possible to purchase content, expansions or in-game currencies. The company also said it will continue to make its contribution to the Ukrainian people, doubling its donations to US charities such as Direct Relief and International Rescue Committee.
In addition, starting today, all users will be able to download the Conyanik emblem for free, to show their solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
Here is what Bungie writes about it: “With the Conyashnik emblem we humbly tried to reproduce the hope and courage that represent the Ukrainian people in these difficult times. In addition to the coat of arms of Ukraine and the impressionistic sunflowers (national flower of Ukraine), we try to give a metaphor of hope, expressing our solidarity. “
As was to be expected given recent events, Bungie’s stance on the conflict is clear, and the company has made a clear decision, like so many other industry giants. The world of technology has in fact now almost completely abandoned Russia, trying to create as much inconvenience as possible for the nation in order to induce it to stop the conflict. Just yesterday, Sony PlayStation also closed relations with Russia.
