Netflix recently announced that the first 7 episodes of the second season of DI4RI, the successful Netflix Italian children’s series created by Simona Ercolani produced by Stand By Me, will be available in Italy from 14 September 2023, and soon in all countries where the service is active. The young protagonists of the series Andrea Arru, Flavia Leone and Fiamma Parente, together with the director Alessandro Celli and the showrunner Simona Ercolani, present today a preview of the new season at the Giffoni Film Festival with the screening of the first episode and a meeting with the jurors of the section Elements (+10 years) of the Festival.
Di4ri: the second season arrives in September, here are the details!
In this second season we find the events of the protagonists who are now part of the 3rd D: Pietro (Andrea Arru), Livia (Flavia Leone), Isabel (Sofia Nicolini), Daniele (Biagio Venditti), Monica (Federica Franzellitti), Giulio (Liam Nicolosi), Mirko (Pietro Sparvoli) and Arianna (Francesca La Cava). They are joined by the new entry Bianca (Fiamma Parente), a talented girl who immediately gets along very well with her cousin Giulio’s group of friends. In the cast of the series, which sees the participation of Pow3r and Luciano Spinelli, also Emily Shaqiri (Katia) and Gabriele Taurisano (Roby).
The synopsis of the second season is as follows:
What happened to the 2nd D kids after the occupation? Will they have remained in class together at the Marina Piccola school? And will Livia have forgiven Pietro after finding out about the bet? The second season of DI4RI restarts from the answers to these questions and from the arrival of a new character, that of Bianca, Giulio’s cousin, a talented and sunny girl who will be able to integrate into the group with her vitality and ability to understand others . In this second season our protagonists will face their third and final year of middle school. An unforgettable year full of challenges, which will end with the first important test of their lives, the eighth grade exam, and with a decisive choice: what to do next? If everyone has to go their own way, will the friendship survive the separation? Also in this season the story of the protagonists breaks the fourth wall and is addressed directly to the viewer: each episode focuses on one of the nine protagonists, telling the school dynamics through his point of view and, at the same time, dealing with a modern and realistic his personal story that becomes thematic and universal. The themes addressed are various: rebellion, anxiety for one’s future, self-affirmation, female bullying, the sense of belonging to a group, acceptance of the parents’ new partners, love and friendship. The truth and realism with which the stories and emotions of the boys were told during the first season will also be the strong point of the second.
