Disney is not the film studio that earned the most at the box office this year. It’s the first time since 2015 that something like this hasn’t happened. Instead Universal has been able to make the most of the film market both with large productions and with lower budget films. Universal has released 24 films for 2023. The film that grossed the most was Super Mario Bros. – The Movie, which even set a record becoming the most profitable film ever among those inspired by videogame works.
In any case, removing the two giants Disney and Universal from the ranking, the other studios positioned themselves much further behind these two major productions. On the lowest step of the podium, with a great gap we find Warner Bros who managed to conquer this position above all thanks to Barbie and The Nun II. The top 5 is completed by Sony and Paramount.
